Visitor Visa

The Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) allows you to visit Australia as a tourists, business and family visitors on a temporary basis for 3, 6, or 12 months depending on your circumstances. On this visa you need to prove that you are a genuine visitor. You need to provide proof of sufficient funds and incentives to return home, such as study, employment, assets, business, etc.

Streams and eligibility:

Tourist Stream (Subclass 600)

With This Visa You Can
  • Visit family or friends
  • Be here as a tourist, for cruise , or for any purpose except business or medical treatment
  • You can’t work on this visa but you can study or train for up to 3 months.
  • Can be apply onshore or offshore
Eligibililty
  • You must have or have access to enough funds to support yourself while you are in Australia
  • You need to meet the health and character requirement.
  • You must be a genuine visitor.
  • It is recommended to have travel & health insurance

Sponsored Family Stream (Subclass 600)

With This Visa You Can
  • Visit family or friends
  • Be here as a tourist, for cruise , or for any purpose except business or medical treatment
  • You can’t work on this visa but you can study or train for up to 3 months.
Eligibility
  • You must be outside Australia when you apply and when the department decides on your application.
  • You must have or have access to enough funds to support yourself while you are in Australia
  • You need to meet the health and character requirement.
  • You must be a genuine visitor.
  • You must have a sponsor who is settled Australian Permanent Residence or Citizen, usually must have lived in Australia for the last 2 years  or an Australian Government Official
  • You must be able to pay a security bond if the department ask for
    • Usually between AUD 5,000 and AUD 15,000 per person (but department can ask for any amount)
    • You must pay full amount before department makes the decision of the application
    • Security bond will be refunded if you complies with your visa conditions and you leave Australia before your visa expires
  • It is recommended to have travel & health insurance.

Be suitable to sponsor

You can only sponsor one visa applicant at a time.

You must be a relative of:

  • the visa applicant or
  • Another applicant, where the other applicant is a member of the family unit of the visa applicant. For example, you could be the uncle of the main visa applicant’s spouse
  • another applicant, where the visa applicant is a member of that other applicant’s family unit

To be a relative, you must be an applicant’s:

  • partner, parent or child, brother or sister , grandparent or grandchild, aunt or uncle, niece or nephew,
  • the step equivalent of the above

A sponsor can’t be a: fiancé, in-law, cousin, friend, New Zealand Citizen

Business Visitor Stream (Subclass 600)

With This Visa You Can
  • make general business or employment enquiries
  • investigate, negotiate, enter into or review a business contract
  • conduct activities as part of an official government visit
  • take part in a conference, trade fair or seminar. You can’t be paid by the organisers to take part
  • undertake tourist activities
With This Visa You Can’t
  • work for or provide services to a business or organisation based in Australia
  • sell goods or services directly to the public
Eligibililty
  • You must be outside Australia when you apply and when the department decide on your application.
  • You must be a genuine visitor travelling to Australia for business visitor activities
  • You must have or have access to enough funds to support yourself while you are in Australia
  • You need to meet the health and character requirement.
  • Intend to stay temporarily in Australia
